Our Story

One of St. Louis, MO Historical Black Churches founded in 1902 with one purpose: Striving to be God's Radiant Church without Spot or Wrinkle.  We have celebrated 119 years of "Word, Worship and Witness" and our story is still being written as He continues to change lives by His Spirit through our ministries and people.

When you arrive for a worship service, you'll find friendly people who aim to make your first visit an encouraging one.  Our greeters will guide you and answer any questions that you have.  If you have children from birth to kindergarten, you may check them in our Children's Nursery.

What to wear?  The Lord focuses on the heart more than on the outward appearance, and so do we.  You'll find a wide variety in dress among our congregration-from casual jeans and capris, to more traditional church attire.  We simply aim to dress so as not to draw attention to ourselves, but keep the focus on Jesus Christ alone.

Our church has hosted events for the Berean District, the National Congress, various schools and organizations.  Within the church, our many ministries, continue to thrive and grow, supporting the church membership and the surrounding community.  Each of us looks forward to worshiping in fellowship with each other on Sunday and being here during the week for Bible study and the work of the church.

It is our continued hope and prayer that Washington Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church will be seen as an active fellowship, striving to serve in ways that God will find acceptable in His sight and humbly asking for His presence and blessings.
